Hi. we have just received an email asking my husband to come for an interview. They are not asking him to bring any additional documents just if he needs to come with an interpretor. They are not asking him to bring his passport so i am worried now. If anybody out there has experience going through the Paris visa office can you tell me what was it like. thanks

Hi Soblue,

wow an interview already! :o Paris is so quick, you're lucky. :D

I have no insight about this office of course, but I wanted to ask if you got the chance to request your notes? If not, do you have time to request them?

When my husband went for his interview, I wrote a letter to the VO addressing our red flags directly. When being interviewed, my husband can see the letter in the VOs hand. I think it did help. Because there was a mix up in the medicals, we waited awhile for my husband's visa and during that time, we ordered our notes again. In the notes, the VO does make mention of my letter ... so I think it was a good thing that I did write it, maybe a letter can be helpful for you as well.

Good luck to you and your husband!

Order your GCSM notes as soon as you can to find out why your husband is being asked to attend an interview (i.e. what specific concerns the visa officer has about your application).

Because you have been called to an interview, you should assume the visa officer has concerns your relationship is genuine. While you haven't been asked to bring anything to the interview, I would definitely bring additional evidence that shows your relationship is genuine and ongoing.

the interview is in 18 days i dont think i can get the notes. i was planning to order them this months because we just submitted our application in march

Looking through your old posts I think the "red flags" your husband needs to be prepared to address during the interivew are:

- Significant age gap
- Different religions / cultures
- Met on the internet
- Married during the first trip to meet each other in person
- No visits to see each other since the marriage

He'll need to be able to explain how and in what ways you are compatible even though there is a difference in your ages and backgrounds. You make sure he is will prepared to answer questions confidently.

I would recommend you search this forum for a list of typical interview questions.

Good luck!

Ah - that's too bad. Yes - unfortunately you don't have enough time to order the notes...

Wow - they called you for an interview very quickly!

yes i think they called too quickly, i am not prepared. I have holidays scheduled 2 months from now and was hoping to be there for the interview or before that. I am so nervous...i worry about not going there since the wedding, being apart for so long is so hard...just i did not have much choice due to financial reasons (i got a huge bill for roof from strata and they requested immediate payments and were saying they will charge monthly interest on the balance) and my job which requires i give very long notice in order to have holidays. am taking 1 months off in august and was planning to spend the time there. Now i dont know what to do...i guess i will have to wait till the interview and see. i wish i lived closer to him so travelling would be easier. i guess he now should get interpreter for the interview and i hope i can speak with the interpreter to know his english is good and explain some things also so if my husband gets nervous during the interview the guy also knows what the situation is. really i can not believe is so quickly. i am already preparing myself mentally for refusal and appeal.

Just curious, does your husband not speak French (the other language option at a CDN embassy, especially Paris)? Even though they didn't ask for it, I would still suggest he take his passport anyway (as well as the other docs suggested by other members), because ya never know, right!

hi, yes he speaks french and english but not fluent and maybe the dialect is bit different than that of the immigration officer. also if he gets nervous he may freeze or something so i think would be good if he has an interpretor with him and i think he should also talk with the interpretor before the interview about our case so he is also familiar with our history a little just in case if my husband has a mental block lol ...i get those if i get too anxious.

Jamali, i just would like to ask you about the letter you wrote. did you send it by mail or email and which office did you send it to. I think i should also send one..because before i submitted our application i did not realize all the red flags we had because i did not find this forum till after. So now i think maybe a good idea i send them something.

No I didn't do either .... my husband took it with him to his interview and gave it to the VO directly. The VO reviewed it in the minutes before the interview and had it in his hand when interviewing my husband.

Good luck ;)

just an FYI by having an interpretor you are creating yet another red flag, the VO will question how you and your husband communicate.

yes that can be a red flag although i have send hundreds of pages from our daily chats so they can see that we are able to communicate well. but i think having an interpreter would be a good idea in case if he gets nervous and has a mental block
