I am an international student who managed to renew his study permit quite recently, In addition i recently applied for visitor visa from inside Canada as I was planning to travel before new year's eve but what with the current COVID situation with all the restrictions i decided to wait it out to see how my school is gonna tackle the COVID situation.

Now my university has decided that most/almost all courses will be online this semester. I am considering going back home to my home country (Dubai,UAE) for the rest of the semester and continuing my studies from there (at least for a little while) while waiting for my visitor visa to be approved so i can return to Canada later on this year.

However, I heard that due to the fact that i have my study permit recently renewed and sorted out already, it's most likely that my processing time for return visa/visitor's visa will be much quicker (is this correct? Correct me if i am wrong please). In addition, if they approved my return visa/visitor visa while i'm abroad, how would i go about to receive it? Because i hear that i would have to ship my passport over to ottawa? How would i transport my passport into as i heard passports cannot be shipped/mailed internationally? I'm sorry if i have some misconceptions/misunderstandings as i've not travelled in a while.

Any help/explanation is welcome, thank you in advance.
