prishah said:Yeah at least good for those who wants citizenship faster.
They should have to change something for International students who seeking for PR and have to put it on Top Priority though becoz International Students put so much enormous contribution to lift Canadian Economy up. But sad thing is they didn't even prioritize this factor yet.![]()

vineshparekh said:Yesterday he also announced that if anyone gets married to Canadian PR/ citizen, he/she will immediately get PR instead of waiting for 2 years. This bill is not passed yet but if passed, will come into effect in two months.
Han said:This is both good and bad though!
expressentryqueen said:Why do you think its both good and bad?
Han said:Good for people who are truly married but could increase fraud as well (fake marriage)!
vineshparekh said:All cases will be checked even after issuing PR card and if the marriage is found fake then PR card can be taken back as well.
I believe it will help PRs to have the same benefits for the spouses as well. Job opportunities will increase since many companies seek for PR card when they hire anyone.
Plus education becomes cheaper if you have PR.
But again fake marriages are possibilities and I guess this time they might have proper measures to deal with that issue. If they don't present adequate measures to deal with that then the bill will not pass I guess
Han said:I totally agree with the benefits for spouses. You are right. But still very difficult to monitor people and their lives! Could put pressure on couple who truly want to divorce as their PR status might taken back!
vineshparekh said:Yes 50% of the time spent before getting PR status is counted towards citizenship
Also the time is reduced from 4 years to 3 years for getting citizenship.
Yesterday he also announced that if anyone gets married to Canadian PR/ citizen, he/she will immediately get PR instead of waiting for 2 years. This bill is not passed yet but if passed, will come into effect in two months.
Cheers
