Hi I am new in this forum and nice to meet you everyone. Wink

I am graduating this April, 2016 and getting a Commerce degree in McMaster University. I want to become a Canadian PR via CEC & Express entry and now I need to get a 3 years post-graduate work permit to work a certain years.

However, I need to work at least one year as a skilled worker and NOC 0,A,B category. I am only a fresh grad and what kind of Job i should looking for and any advice for international student? I have oversea exchange experience and legit internship experience in Hong Kong. I understand Canada only care Canada experience.

My degree doesn't specific any major so I am willing to work anything (Marketing, Operation, Supply Chain, Bank etc, I don't really like sales lol). As long as it meets the CEC requirement and suitable for new grad student.

Thank you.

Hi there!

You can apply for jobs as any other Canadian can apply for. You're a recent graduate of a Canadian university, so "Canadian experience" won't get in your way of getting a job, hopefully. You can start looking for jobs on indeed.ca.

Also, try to attend networking events such as conferences - you can do so by joining any associations relevant to your industry. I got my job through networking, so hopefully it works out for you too!

Good luck!

Not sure if you can get into Express Entry with enough points as a fresh grad with 1 year work experience, unless you are willing to work all 3 years, but you can qualify for a PNP with OINP International Student with Employer/Job Offer:

http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPSTUDENTS.html

Don't be afraid of the job market, if you are confident in yourself and your abilities and qualifications, I don't think you would have a problem finding a decent job. My advice to you is: If you get a Job Offer, apply IMMEDIATELY to the OINP offered to international students with a job offer. I regret not knowing about this when I first was hired over 2 years ago, because you can only apply if you have graduated less than 2 years from the time of application. Please visit the <a href="http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNPSTUDENTS_JOB.html">OINP for Intenational Students with a Job Offer</a> page for more info.

Express Entry isn't the best way to go for Intl grads at the moment, the points required are really high right now. The government has insisted time and time again that there will be changes coming to Express Entry to eliminate the barriers placed on intl grads. I'm confident that by the time you are eligible for PR, the Express Entry landscape and procedures will be completely different.

Best of luck and believe in yourself always, confidence is what gets you the job every time! 8)

Don't be afraid to relocate. Go wherever the jobs are.

PGWP is open so you can find any jobs you want.

Think PNP. CEC is not the only option and it's certainly not flavouring grads

Thank you for all your encouragement and support ~ :-*

Yea I heard about PNP and it is more suitable for international student, because this program gives you 600 points.

However, what is some of the NOC 0,A,B jobs for recent grad Business student? like bank CSR doesn't qualify the NOC but admin assistant does. So can I apply Admin Assistant and use that to apply PNP? Thanks ~

and I will def attend networking event in future :)

I know little about business world, nor OINP. But as long as you can justify the NOC code, you are eligible in using it for PNP. Be sure you are eligible for the specific stream though. (Some needs just the job subjected to OINP's audit, some needs 1 year experience)

Here are my two cents:

1. You may or may not be lucky to get a job related to your business degree, so be open-minded
2. Go through the NOC CODES 2011 and see what kind of NOC A or B jobs you might qualify for. E.g. Admin Assistant, Human Resources, etc
3. If you're lucky to get a qualifying job from the onset, work there for at least one year (except you find a better qualifying job) then you can switch
4. Be open to relocate
5. Try to stay away from jobs got through recruiting agencies, especially if you will be on their pay roll. It just messes things up for PR application.

I will add more points if/when I do remember

- from a fellow PGWP holder :)

Hi,

I would say do some reasearch on the NOC website which role suits your education, as the NOC codes have minimum educational requirements.
Than make a Linkdin Page (If you don't have already), if you have a linkdin page than modify it attarct more oppurtunities in the NOC code field.

Their are a lot of Fresh Grad programs run by Banks, other major corporates.

TBH workopolis, indeed etc didn't help me much and people i know but still add your resumne their too.
Their are job fairs fro fresh graduates in colleges, and should happen for your university, definitely attend those.
Finally contact few recruitment agencies like SISystems, RHT, Modis, Etc.

I hope the above helps:)
