Dear Sir/Madam,

I am an international graduate student in Canada. I am going for a visit to my home country in Europe for Xmas, where I will get married to my fiancee. She is planning to come and live with me in Canada in September next year. My questions in connection for this are the following:

(1) What kind of visa does she have to apply for? Do I need to re-apply for my study permit to update my marital status or something like that?

(2) Does she require proof of funds or does my proof of funds (issued by my institution, as was done for my study permit) suffice? If not, what amount of funds is normally required?

Kind regards

I am guessing u r from a country which is not visa exempt...in that case u have two options
1) Ur wife can apply for TRV normal visitors visa with ur marriage certificate, financial proof and ur other docs. If approved ur wife will get a visitors permit at POE for the duration of ur study permit if she provides copy of marriage certificate.
2)Ur wife applies for open work permit in that case she will get a visa ....she will get work permit at POE and she can work in canada . In either case u need proof of funds and marriage cert and ur study permit, visa copies etc. financial proof info can be found on below link

Thanks for this! I AM from a visa-exempt country (Slovenia, EU - I don't need a visa to enter) - does this change anything?
