Hello guys. I'm an international master student in the US and got PhD admission letter from UofT last week. I have already submitted my sp application online. Does anyone know how long it may take if applying from the US?

Moreover, I asked two friends who are studying in Canada now about how to apply for sp and visa, but they gave me totally different replies. One of them said visa can only be applied after I get my sp approved, and another one said there is no relationship between visa and sp, which means I can apply for visa now without sp. I'm totally confused now. Can anyone tell me which one is right? :'( :'(

BTW, my F-1 visa has expired now but my I20 is still valid till May 15. In this case, can I apply for Canadian visa in the US? Which city should I go? NYC or LA?

Thank you very much and wish you all have a great day!

well u can apply for study permit and visa at the same time. They will issue visa if required if u apply for study permit depending on ur nationality. follow the document check list .

Do u have I-94 valid as I-20 may not be accepted. U need to be a legal resident of the country where u apply if ur visa has expired and ur I-94 has expired then ur not legal resident of US right?

Thank you! I have to check my I94 after coming back home today. But I think I'm legal resident of US now (if not I'll come back without obtaining graduate degree LOL).

Do you have any experience on the Canadian visa processing time? I have to leave USA before this July and I'm very worried about it.
