Good day! My boyfriend is currently studying in canada and have a visa for 2 years until 2020-11-30 and I’m in the Philippines. We are in a relationship for 10 years already but we are not yet married and we did not live in 1 house. Is there a big chance that i can be approve for an Open Work Permit providing that we only have a joint bank account, photos, remittance copies, screenshot conversations, and documented travels?

Hoping for answers and suggestions. Thanks

Definition of common law is a couple who have cohabited for 12 months or more so not living in same residence would not meet that definition.

Actually we live together on and off in one roof for more than a year but it was his sisters condominium and we don’t have any bills that was named to both of us that we can use as a proof.

You are not common-law. Off and on doesn't cut it. It requires a continuous year of cohabitation and you must be able to prove it.

You would need to get married to qualify for status based on his status.

Thank you for your reply..

We are planning to get married after he graduate but that would be by next year. What else can we do for now that we can use in our future application? We bought a small property but the papers are still on the process.
