Hi Friends,
I am looking for settling in Canada after many years of roaming around the globe. I hope someone can guide me on this -

Here is my brief profile -
- Project Management & Delivery professional with more than 9 years of Information Technology experience.
- Have worked in USA & Latin America and have visited on business trips to UK & Europe
- Full time 2 years MBA (2003-2005) and Full time 4 years Computer Engineering (1997-2001) from India

The federal program is closed. what else I can plan is my question. Quebec? Alberta? Anything else?
I am in USA presently and on a temporary work visa as a Project Manager (L1A).

Any help will be highly appreciable. Thanks a lot in advance!!

Do you have a job offer in either province?

I have not applied for any job there, so no offer received. However, I have some friends in IT and it looks a promising place.

Since you have Project Management experience you stand good chances of immigrating to Canada.. just wait until Jan 2013 and try to gather as many documents required for filing an immigration until that time, there may be a few changes but I guess overall it should be same.

If you can also get you credentials assessed by WES that would be great, there is a talk that the new changes will emphasis on credential assessment before even immigrating to Canada...it doesn't cost much and is beneficial to you as well...

So I should wait till Jan 2013 to know if they 'may' change something. That's sound strange. Overall I have almost all documents that I need. Some issue in getting a police clearance from Latin America as I was there long time back and have no friends there now.

Are you referring me to get IELTS/French docs or something else?

I have never been questioned about validity of my educational certifications since they are from decent universities, so I will avoid a rush to WES until it is mandatory. Please suggest.

Any suggestion on job hunt? Which are reliable job boards there? I was on monster today and it seems pretty blank for Canada. Any suggesions please?

You will need IELTS (it's mandatory for all applicants regardless of their English proficiency). So if you haven't already, you should do that soon (the results must be included with the application packages or it will be automatically rejected).

Right now you can't apply for FSW without a job offer. In early 2013, the non-job offer stream of FSW will be re-opened. However it's not possible to say what occupations will be on the list of accepted occupations. In other words, if you wait until early 2013, there's a chance you might be able to apply without a job offer.

As for finding job offers, monster.ca is definitely one place. Also try the Canadian Job Bank.

Unfortunately that's the only option unless you have a job offer, its better to have a PCC, there may be procedures available just as FBI issues PCC even after one has left US.

No one will ever question the validity your degree certificates, the credentials assessment is only to assess your degree's Canadian or US equivalency.

There are a lot of Canadian job sites where you can search for jobs including Monster.ca, you need to prepare your CV in Canadian style (Google it) to be shortlisted or else you may never get a response because computers scan CVs and shortlist them.

Good to know.
Another question I have -
My US VISA just expired and I am presently in US on I-95 (valid till 2015). Does that impact any thing on Canada PR application?
