Hi,

I've applied for a canadian working holiday visa from the UK. My biometrics appointment is next week but I want to travel as a tourist in early April.
Am I allowed to travel to canada as a tourist before I receive the visa/permit?

Yes you can.

Yes you can.

Woohoo :)

Just for anyone looking at this thread for future reference

I found a page on the govt site:

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1249&top=25

"Yes, as long as you satisfy the border services officer that you are entering as a visitor and will not be working.

When you are ready to work in Canada, you will need to go to a Port of Entry (exit and re-enter Canada). When you re-enter, you must present your Port of Entry (POE) Letter to get your work permit. Make sure your POE Letter is not expired."

That's good for my plans - I guess anyone could just do a border run over to the US
