International driving experience for less than a year.

Dear all,
I need your advice regarding the driving license in Ontario,

I have a current driving experience from my country of origin (where there is no driving license exchange agreement with Canada). I have had my driving license for only six months.

I read somewhere that an international driving experience for less than one year will not be counted when it comes to the mandatory waiting period for the road test, so please correct me if I am wrong.

Your feedback will be highly appreciated.

I have an Australian Driving License which I got just now. I am going to Toronto and they have Exchange agreement with Australia.

Can I get it exchanged even if its less than a year old ?

You can exchange it but with restrictions. You will have to go via a G2 stage. http://www.drivetest.ca/EN/licencing/Pages/Exchanging-a-Reciprocal-Licence.aspx
