This is interesting the numbers here r from express entry ...hmm
"40 per cent working as financial and investment analysts and 8 per cent in tech and design. But 16 per cent are cooks and supervisors in the food industry and 2 per cent are retail managers."

International students in particular have said the system has closed the door to settling in Canada. Under a prior system, they were almost certain to be able to stay after graduation.

This is wrong. They also need a Canadian job, which is not easy to compete with locals.

EE year end report is here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/reports/ee-year-end-2015.asp

edit: clarity

sorry which paragraph r u talking about?

The requirement of LMIA for FW is the most outrageous thing from cic in the past many years. Whoever in charge for imposing this requirement, are scums of Canada. I am getting pretty sick just by seeing these 4 letters.

LMIA as a concept itself has a good intent. The government has an obligation to protect its own people. But the details of its approval and the extent of its application go against its intent and is hurting Canadian businesses.

there may be a difference between "What Canada actually need" and "What is shown in report". I don't think Canada needs more cook. It's maybe just that cooks are disproportionally likely to migrate than other professions.

Or just the fact that food service supervisor and cooks cornered the LMIA market in 2014/2015.

yes or restaurant owners were more readily sponsoring LMIA. All in all its the system that needs to be looked at as a whole. Obtaining LMIA is part of EE in a sense.

I'm sure chief chef in a 5 star hotel is highly skilled. But guess how many of them are part of the 2295 applicants.
