I have recently applied to sponsor my husband. I have been residing outside Canada and I do intent on living there once the application is approved. I am a Canadian citizen and Immigration Canada have requested that I provide more documents to prove my intention of living in Toronto. I don't know what to send them since I can really show proof while living outside Canada. I do have my brothers still living in Toronto and I wrote a letter stating so but they say said it wasn't satisfactory. Can anyone help me with this ? Much appreciated

I have sent a letter explaining why I'm living abroad and I also sent pictures of my kids when we lived in Canada for year but had to go back because of family situation. I still have an active bank account. Do u think that's good enough though. I do hope to go back before second semester so that my kids can go to school in time. I'm just so nervous they might reject it. If I know for sure it would be approved I would go ahead of my husband.

The new tactic immigration uses is too deny or say you don't have enough proof of living in Canada. They also try to make it look like your form is the outdated one or incomplete.

Phone or email your MP and tell them you are going to Canada! Immigration is just trying to send back your application to avoid doing the work. Almost all people who apply are honest and want to live in Canada but immigration makes it hard.

The new immigration form released on December 15 will further cause problems.

You need to show them ties to Canada. A bank account, a rental or lease agreement, a resettlement plan (where will you live (with family? friends? you have a place of your own?)? how will you support yourself?), explain what your profession is and show prospects that you have applied to, etc. They need to see an intent is all.

Hi Ruqayya1979,

They want to see your genuine intention to come back to Canada.

1) A well written comprehensive settlement plan is essential where you will specifically describe when and how you are going to settle in Canada. How you will be managing your financial needs without depending on social assistance.
2) Your prior arrangement of accommodation once you will arrive there.
3) Communication with prospective employers for you and your spouse for possible employment or evidences showing search of jobs in Canada.
4) Explanation with proper justification why you are so serious about moving back to Canada supported by documentary evidences, if any.

Good luck!

Hasan

Thank you guys so much. I actually called the lawyer David Cohen for advice and he was actually surprised that they asked for such documents. I'm actually getting frustrated because I'm scared the Yb might reject it. However, I will email my MP as well maybe he can help.

this is a very common request for sponsors living outside of canada, so it shouldn't be a shock to a well informed immigration attorney.

cic is not looking for concrete things. they are looking for a clear plan for resettlement in canada to show you will not depend on social assistance to support you and your family. showing research you've done on areas to live in, jobs to apply for, industries to work in and letters of support from others in canada who will help you get on your feet is generally what is needed. if you have proof of ties to canada, even better. like i said, many people get this request, and have no issue convincing CIC of intentions to resettle in canada with these things.

Don't waste your MP's time with this. As said above, it's a very common request. It is stated in the application that sponsors living outside of Canada are required to submit proof of their intention to return to Canada.

Show proof you've researched where you will live, contact schools for your kids, get shipping quotes, transfer money to Canada etc. If you will be staying with your brother, get a notarized letter from him stating that.

Seriously, stop with these posts. You are providing bad information.

This is NOT a "new tactic immigration uses." Many, many people receive this exact same request because the application states that such proof of intent to return to Canada is required.

There is no point in contacting an MP for this. IRCC is not trying to send back their application to avoid doing the work and saying so is just ridiculous.

Imagine if they did? I bet that agency would get nothing done, and would go 'broke' in no time! :)
