hey guys,

I will be looking to land early next month at Pearson Airport. I was curious though as to what insurance I would need to buy as I will be landing as a Permanent Resident and not as a tourist/working holiday visa?

Anybody been in a similar situation?

thanks

You don't need one - having a PR qualifies you for OHIP coverage.

the OHIP only applies after 3 months. So I guess you still need to cover for health insurance for the initial 3 months.

Please research this and take appropriate action.

What kind of insurance you are looking for? Car/Medical/Home ?

If its a medical then you would be covered by OHIP after 90 days of your landing. That's mean after 3 months your coverage will kick-in. If you are not in any serious need then doesn't worth it to get one just for first 3 months.

For car/home, there are lots of options to go with. But as you are new immigrant then probably go with some IB (Insurance Broker). They might get you some better deals compare to the Insurance Companies themselves.
