Hi everyone,
Please someone should help me. I have a friend who came as a student but has some issues back home which he can't go back because it's life threatening and his sponsor(dad) has been killed .He has decided to go on asylum for protection. His study permit still has 2 years before it expire's, he has met someone who has promised to sponsor him in school and later apply for permanent residence then citizenship.
His claim is with the immigration and hearing date scheduled a month and half from today.
I wish to ask can he stop the refugee issues and continue to follow up his school transactions with his study permit still active?.
Please he is confused because he just met someone to sponsor him in school

Is he still attending school or did he stop attending school? If he stopped attending school, how long ago did he drop out of school?

The reason why I am asking this question is that it's important to know if he is still in school. If he has dropped out of school and it's been more than 90 days since he has dropped out of school, then his study permit is no longer valid (it was automatically canceled once he had been out of school for more than 90 days).
