Hi,

Currently I am in Canada and I have a dependent work permit ( I came in Canada on dependent visa on my husband's 3 year post grad work permit) . My work permit will expire in this July 2017. Currently I am working in a Canadian firm and my employer just confirmed that they can help me to extend my work permit.

So now my question is:
1.) What documents my employer need to show and what steps they need to do?
2.) Do my employer need to post a job online for certain time periods? if so then for upto how much time?
3.) On this my extension of work permit with my employer, is it possible that my husband (who is currently on 3 year Post Grad work permit) can apply his work permit on my basis like my extension of work permit and my husband's work permit will be kind of mine dependent work permit now?
4.) Up to how many years an employer can extend a work permit?

Please help me and give your suggestions guys n girls.

Thanks in advance.

1. Your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA.
2. They need to advertise the job for at least a month and ensure they meet the LMIA advertising requirements.
3. Yes - your husband can then apply for a dependent work permit. It will be up to CIC if it's approved.
4. Usually a year or two.
