Hi y'all

I'm a newbie to this stuff and am reading the old forums and posts and it seems the fastest best way to apply to sponsor a spouse was Outland since it was processed quicker. With the new liberal changes to 12 months processing does this still apply.

Is it still recommended to apply outbound?

Do the rules of spouse visiting and exiting and entering Canada still apply?

Thanks. Any advice would be most wonderful.

where is the applicant from?

I'm not sure if this made sense.... ???

So to clarify:
-if we apply inland my spouse is supposed to live with me and cannot leave Canada until decision is made or else riak being denied re entry to Canada. And is able to apply for a work permit.

-if we apply Outland he is able to come and go as he pleases as we wait. But there is no work permit with Outland.

am I understanding correctly?

yes, you are understanding correctly. generally outland is still faster than inland. while they say they want to process inland within 12 months, it still has not sped up to that point yet. most outland applications are approved in 6-12 months.

Oh wow that's pretty fast! And I'm the case that my spouse is in Canada when he gets approved or status do u know if he has to leave Canada to go to Greece and enter Canada with PR status. Or can he just go to the border and do so there?

Thank you for your response. :)

no, he will not need to leave canada. the passport instructions for receiving the approval paper usually include instructions for sending the passport to ottawa if the applicant is in canada during approval time. the applicant can then schedule an appointment at a local office (not usually recommended because it can take weeks to get an appointment) or drive to the US border to "flagpole" (essentially get turned around to go back to canada) to land.

One more question if we apply Outland and we don't get a response within his 6 month allott d timeframe of visiting me in Canada. Is he able to remain in Canada till we get the response even if it's past the 6 months max visiting. Would that be considered implied status or would he have to request to extend his visit through CIC until a decision is made.

a PR application does not give implied status (regardless of whether it's inland or outland). If he wants to stay longer than his initial allowed entry, he can simply apply to extend his stay on the IRCC website. He can do this starting 30 days prior to his visit ending. PR applicants are rarely denied extensions.
