I'm sponsoring my boy friend to under common law, we live in Quebec and have got approval from the quebec government for me to sponsor him. Whats left? we also applied for an open work permit after we got approval from the quebec government. its been 5 months since we applied and we haven't got any responses, should we expect to hear something soon?

When you are approved as a sponsor, your boyfriend will received AIP and OWP.
Currently, CIC says the processing time for Step1(Assessment of sponsor and person being sponsored) is 11 months. Now they are working on applications received on November 2012.

So, maybe you would hear something from CIC about after 6 months, unless CIC needs more documents from you or they doubt your relationship. Until then, just waiting...
