Hi,
My name is Ellie and I came to Canada in April last year on a working holiday visa. I met my husband soon after arriving and we have been living together since June 2009. We got married in March 2010 and he is sponsoring me, he is a Canadian citizen.
I am unable to extend my work permit so I cannot work in Canada so I think that I may have to go back to the UK for a few months to work and try and save some money for my return, we haven't sent the application in yet as I am trying to decide whether it is best for me to do an inside or outside application??? Also, if I do go back to the UK can I come back to Canada before my residency is accepted, as just a visitor? If so will I need to show them a ticket out of Canada (like you have to when you come to Canada on a holiday visa) or will that be waived as I am married to a Canadian and applying for permanent residency??
If anyone has recently applied through an outside canada application can you please tell me how long it took before you got PR status?
Any advice would be appreciated,
Thanks for all your help!
Ellie

Outland is faster ..inland normally takes more than a year..since it is London it will be faster to do outland...

It takes about 2 months in Canada to get sponsor approval, then it goes to London for 2 to 8 months (in 80% of cases) to get applicant approval.

Just because you're married to a Canadian, you can't just move to Canada even if you're applying for PR. You are still just a visitor until the application is approved and you have to maintain valid visitor status, prove that you will return at the end, etc. You can ask for an extension if your authorized visit is not long enough to get the application approved.
