I am an applicant of 2010, inland common law sponsor.
About a year ago I applied and got an Ontario Photo ID card. (http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/photo-card.shtml)
The reason why I am fretting over this is because I live in Quebec. The reason why I went out and got one of these is because my only form of ID was my passport. I dont know about you, but I am not comfortable with carrying around my passport in my purse. I do not have a drivers license and Quebec does not have anything like this at the moment. Getting an Ontario Photo Card is actually pretty easy, simply show a proof of ID and give them some kind of Ontario address (no proof needed for an Ontario address, I used my friend's address) and that's it.

My main question is, is this going to pop up on my security/background checks? And if it is, is this going to get me into trouble?

I'm going to say that a lack of response is possibly a good thing haha.

I think the lack of responses is because no one has ever done that and doesn't know.

I'm not sure how that would work. You might have to explain why you got it and how. Don't think it would cause a lot of issues, just a little eyebrow raise and a little bit of confusion but otherwise it should be okay.

I just dont know what they would have me do! Carry around my passport for 2 years? It seems like every province has a photo ID card BUT Quebec.

I couldnt apply for a drivers license in Quebec even if I wanted to. You've got to be a landed immigrant to apply for one. I just hope I dont have to go in for a background/security interview because of this silly card. I would think they would take it away from me at the worst for not being actually in Ontario. Again I didnt have to give solid proof of Ontario residence, just tell them an address. I think I'm making it a bigger deal than it needs to be. :(

I just dont want any more delays.

I doubt very much that the record created by the issuing of this 'Ontario Photo Card' will land in any major system to worry about.

On your other note, I know of someone in Quebec on 'temp work permit' only and has learners permit AND taking driving lessons. Think they only needed a Quebec Health Card.
