Hi everyone

I´m from Guatemala where I currently live with my wife (Canadian citizen) and 3 small kids. We want to go live in Calgary and we´re thinking about spousal sponsorship application (permanent residence). I don´t know if its a mistake but we´re a bit anxious about going so we´re thinking about maybe going to Canada around april/may and start the inland application since I understand it will take around 4 months for me to get a work permit. We figure we can survive without my work for a few months, we and our kids adapt and start school in Aug-Sept and who knows maybe I´ll find an opportunity and get a job somehow before those 4 months. I have the following questions if anyone can help me?

1. Will I have trouble getting a tourist visa so we can go around april/may?
2. Is the open work permit process gonna take 4 months or could it take much longer?
3. Once I get my work permit or during the process can I leave Canada to Guatemala before I´ve been given my perm residence? Is there a problema with that? could the process continue? If its no problem then maybe I can just go on a visit to Canada around april apply for perm residency and open work permit then go back home and stay for a few months then head back to canada when permit arrives?
4. Any suggestions? do you guys suggest outland?

thank you very much

hope anyone can help me

1. I would assume it may be difficult to get a TRV since CIC will suspect you have plans to remain n Canada long term.
2. It should only take longer if there are serious issues with your application.
3. You need to remain in Canada until the inland application processing is complete (i.e. 2-3 years). If you leave, there is nevery a guranatee you will be allowed back in (especially if you are non visa exempt). If you're not allowed back in, your application will be canceled. Applying inland is for those who are actually living in Canada. So no, you cannot apply and then leave for several months.
4. If you want the flexibility to travel then apply outland.
