Guys,

I am a PR and in canada. MY wife who is also a PR is currently in my home country and we have to sponsor our 1 yr old kid. May i request following info from experienced folks:

1. Can i start sponsorship process of my 1 year old kid now that I have a job offer. I do not have any pay stub yet. Can the process be initiated with the job offer letter without pay stub. Or whether with paystub the processing will be faster.

2. On an average how long would it take for the whole process to complete. I know that the CIC site says 18 months but what is the "real" processing time.

3. From wht I understand, I will have to prepare the application for both PR and sponsorship. Do I need to send this application package ( PR+sponsorship) to a single address in Canada or whether the PR application is to be sent at a different location and the sponsorship application to a different one.

Please help

1. yes, if you are currently a pr, you can start the process to sponsor your child for PR. there is no income requirement, and whether a paystub is submitted or not doesn't affect the time it takes to process the application.

2. no one can tell you how long it will take. if the baby is in india, then the application will be processed at the new dehli visa office. find the thread specific to that office to see what the current trend is.

3. yes, both the sponsor and applicant applications are submitted TOGETHER in the same package and are mailed to a specific address in Mississauga. this address is listed in the application guide on the cic website. it will be a good idea to go to the cic website and start looking through the guide and required documentation so you can get an idea of what to expect.

PS... you will not be submitting an "inland" application to sponsor your child. it will be processed through a visa office abroad (New Delhi), so that means it is an "outland" or "outside of canada class" application.

Thank you very much for the detailed reply. +1 to you buddy.Just one more thing. This initial application package - both Sponsor+applicant application - is to be sent to Mississauga and then CIC itself would send it to NDVO? just the way CIC did for our PR application ( though in that case we sent to Nova Scotia).

Here is the application package for sponsoring children. Yes, all parts of app are completed together and sent to Mississauga. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
