Infos status + passport request

So here is the deal.

I applied online for the Study Permit, got an email the next day saying this:

"This is in reference to your application for temporary residence. A decision has been made on your application. We
require your passport to finalize processing your application.
Passport requirements
• Please provide your passport or travel document, with a copy of this letter.
• There must be at least one blank page in your passport.
• Your passport must be valid for the duration of your expected length of stay in Canada.
• Please note that we cannot issue a visa beyond the expiry date on the passport."

My program is a 4 years (Carleton U) so I got a new passport since my old one would expire in 2 years, and today I sent both of them as requested.

What I'm confused is: The email clearly says: " A decision has been made on your application". But when I check my CIC account and the status it shows:

Application Status - Open
Review of medical results - Passed
Review of submitted documents - No additional documents are needed at this time
Scheduling an interview - Not needed at this time
Review of biometric information - Not needed at this time
A final decision has been reached - Not Started

Does anyone else got their passport request and have the same status of application? I'm confused and very worried

when did you set this email? and when was the last time you had your medical test. Also when was the last time you saw the status saying "Medical: passed"?

Also is it the General Cateogry or SPP?

As far as I understand when you apply online the request for your passport only comes in case of an acceptance. They usually do not bother to ask for passport if your case is rejected.

If you meant when they sent the email, it was the day after submitting the application. I had my medical exam less than 2 months ago, the status changed probably two days after receiving the request. It was General Category.

I think you are fine then. You had finished your medical and they are alright with everything. Now they are requesting for the passport to stamp the visa. Sometimes, they send the email earlier than updating the CIC site. Email is better than CIC page

My status changed to Medical passed on 8th august . Rest are the same. In fact i got passport request on 21 st July after applying on 18th July.
When should i expect my visa? I have booked my flight for 26th night . WOrried when will they return the passport.

@Luneves-same status here... They have requested passport from me.... Most probably visa is approved...

Even I am positive your visa must be approved thats why they are asking for passport.

My status was updated and passport was requested and in 10 days time the online application changed to ''approved''.
Do not worry.

I just received the POE Introduction Letter on my CIC account.... Visa approved!

Now can someone guide me please? Do I have to present this letter when I get into Canada? What is ACTUALLY my visa? The paper they will stamp on my passport or something I get when I arrive in Canada?

Just Study Visa Stamp on passport is enough .... don't worry best of luck ;D
