  • I currently have a file under EE which has been in progress for over 9 months.
  • While at the time of application my partner and I did not qualify as common-law partners, we have now reached the one-year cohabitation and we are filing our taxes together soon.
  • The CIC requires that we inform them about any changes in the status while the application is being processed.
  • Moreover:
she is NOT going to be a co-applicant/dependent in my PR file because she is already a citizen,
neither do we want to change my application into a sponsorship since I was eligible and my file has already been in the process for over 9 months.

The CIC website doesn't seem to have information to cover our case so I'm wondering if anyone here has a similar experience or can point to any official information about how I should inform the CIC to update my file.

Thanks.

I think you should send them a CSE and wait for their response. Alternatively, you can call them and ask what you need to do in this case.

It's been more than 6 months. Did you order GCMS notes for your application?

Thanks. I haven't ordered the notes; do you think that will help?
