Information Systems Auditor - Internal Audit

Dear Friends/Brothers,

A little about my self:

I am an Information Systems Auditor ( Internal Audit not any 3rd Party consultant). I have 2-3 Years experience in this occupation.
I have done my Bachelors in Computer Engineering.


But the question is that can i apply for FSW 2014? I have gone through other posts and found out that NOC 2171 "Information System and Quality Assurance Consultant" is the answer to my question but i have one confusion that in the main duties to be perfomed by a person who is applying inder this NOC states that

"Systems Auditors carry out independent third-party assessments to evaluate quality assurance processes, software products and information systems."


The main duties suggest that Systems auditors carry out 3rd PARTY ASSESSMENT but as i mentioned earlier that i am working as an information systems auditor but as an internal auditor, so all i do is carry out internal assessment not any 3rd party assessments.

Guys Please Help me as i am already late for the application.

Well the NOC describes the category 2171 as follows:

Information systems analysts and consultants analyze systems requirements, develop and implement information systems development plans, policies and procedures, and provide advice on a wide range of information systems issues. They are employed in information technology consulting firms and in information technology units throughout the private and public sectors, or they may be self-employed.

As i am employed by a private organization in its internal department, so the description matches to my current employment (I guess)

As far as the main duties are concerned; (Below are the main duties published on the NOC website)

1- Information systems business analysts and consultants confer with clients to identify and document requirements, conduct business and technical studies, design, develop, integrate and implement information systems business solutions, and provide advice on information systems strategy, policy, management, security and service delivery.

2- Systems security analysts confer with clients to identify and document requirements, assess physical and technical security risks to data, software and hardware, and develop policies, procedures and contingency plans to minimize the effects of security breaches.

3- Information systems quality assurance analysts develop and implement policies and procedures throughout the software development life cycle to maximize the efficiency, effectiveness and overall quality of software products and information systems.

4- Systems auditors conduct independent third-party reviews to assess quality assurance practices, software products and information systems.

In point 1: I provide advice on information systems strategy, controls, policies, procedures, management, security, delivery, vendor mangement and etc.

In point 2: I assess physical and technical security risks to data, software and hardware, and develop policies, procedures and contingency plans to minimize the effects of security breaches.

In point 3: None as it is related to Quality assurance practices.

In point 4: I do not conduct any 3rd party assessment but i do conduct internal assessment and reviews to assess information systems.

Obviously i do alot of other reviews as well which fall into the domain of information system reviews.

Hope that helps and i can find some answers to my questions and some solutions to my confusions.

Yes but what i am concerned is that whether NOC 2171 is only applicable to external consultants or is it valid for internal employers of an organization as well?

I think should apply because you are doing the required work does not matter if its for 3rd party or internal departments.
Give it a shot dude. But before applying make sure u r scoring 67 points

IELTS Score Calculated - 7 Speaking, 7 Writing, 7 Reading, 7.5 Listening = 24 points - 6 points each
Work Experience as an Information Systems Auditor - 2 to 3 Years = 11 Points
Age between 30 and 35 = 12 points

Total points = 68 Points out of 100

Have i calculated them right?

And i still need some advice on the right category - SHOULD I APPLY UNDER NOC 2171? My Profession: Information Systems Auditor

Looks fine to me. Your duties do cover at least a 60 - 70% match with 2171 - right ? You can go ahead then. If you have not got WES done; I suggest you start that ASAP.

November will be close. But allow me to give you a philosophical tip - "you have nothing to loose". So go ahead. Forget the CAP.
