I received my PR status in 2007, traveled outside canada for the first time in 2011 for 1 yr returned to canada stayed for 1yr then left again in July 2013 and have been out since, it's now been 1yr and 3 months. I would really like to know when is the latest I have to return to canada without losing my PermAnent residency status according to the guidelines? Please help and answer it would be VERY helpful and appreciated.

Thanks

You may remain outside Canada indefinitely without worrying the PR status if you are accompanying a Canadian spouse.

In a 5 year span, if not exempt from rules via traveling with Cdn citizen spouse, then you can stay outside Canada for a maximum of 3 years less a day.

In general you must spend every 2 out of 5 years in Canada to maintain PR status.

You may be outside for up to 3 years less than a day (1094 days) in any 5 year period so in the past 5 years, you have been outside for approximately 2 years and 3 months, you would have to return in less than 9 months in order to keep your PR.

As for when you can leave again, you just have to make sure that when looking back at the past 5 years, you always have at least 2 years (730 days) in Canada.
