Information required about geting work permits after the lmo

Hi guys im wondering if anyone can help as i seem to be going round in circles a little. I am currently in canada in regina,i am from the uk so i dont need a visa to visit.I am looking for employment and i am hapy to say i have some different job offers.I understand that i need an offer from the employer and then we need the lmo... so once the lmo comes back what comes next to actually get the permit in my hands?? do i have to apply online? then once they give the green light they get me to go to the border? or do i print off all the forms and take them to the border? ive tried to call cic but you leave messages and they dont return my calls.
if anyone can help i would be very gratefull

1. if you get the LMO, you have to apply at a border port of entry as you are visitor visa exempt, you can't apply inland. If you require a medical for the job, you have to apply at an overseas office.
2. You need your passport, and the LMO at the border. You don't need to complete the forms.

thankyou so much for your information...... does my husband need a lmo from his potential employer or does he just come with me with his passport??? i think he gets an open visa??so does he need an lmo?is it really as simple as go to the border with the lmo and passport or could they ask for all kinds of papers-im asking because i asked several immigration lawyers (who all ask rediculous money to do what i dont know) and they say we need school papers wedding papers work papers etc etc.......

Where did you see that if you require a medical for the job, that you can't apply at a port or entry?
1. if you get the LMO, you have to apply at a border port of entry as you are visitor visa exempt, you can't apply inland. If you require a medical for the job, you have to apply at an overseas office.

My wife, who is american and currently here as a temporary resident on a 6 month visa ( we are in the process of submitting the spousal sponsorship application for PR) just got offered a job as a teacher and the employer is going to do the LMO for her.
We are under the impression based on the CIC website that she just needs to bring the LMO to the port of entry to get the work permit, they also told us this at the Sarnia/Port Huron Crossing.

If this is indeed correct as you are saying and bc she is a teacher, and a teacher requires a medical based on the info from the CIC site, do you think the medical my wife did for her permanent resident application (application not yet submitted, but the medical has been done,) would suffice?

Steven. It may be worth checking in the DMP Handbook. I am sure I read recently that the PR and Temp Work Permit medicals are different.

Thanks Pippin. I'll take a look, but in terms of the first part of my q in response to a point PMM made, if a medical is required are we still allowed to apply at the port of entry?
