information letter from IRCC yesterday

Hi all the smart people,

I received the information letter yesterday at my IRCC account.
I applied for express entry in September, and I am surprised how fast this is!
In the letter, they require me to send my passport and photos to them within 30days.
But, I already bought my ticket back home and won't be back until Jan.1st.

So my question is has anyone requested for an extension for submitting the document?
And would that affect my application?
