There are so few of us who may be thinking moving of to Canada from Japan and have to actually find the VFS (CVAC) office. But just in case, I’ll share the information here.
Because Japanese passport holders don’t need a visa to visit Canada, the Tokyo VFS/CVAC office, since the implementation of the Biometrics requirement, seems to be simply a biometrics collection point. However, for those of us who reside in Japan, but do not have a Japanese passport, the office has more use for us.

1. Services & Details
- The office is able to assist on TRV, Student and Work Permits, PRTD processing
- However, applications are not processed here. Rather, the office checks for the completeness of the application package, ships, then receives the documents to and from the Manila Visa Office.
- Biometrics Collection: In Japan, this is the only place to do that. (During my visit for biometrics, I did a doubletake seeing that one applicant actually flew in from Okinawa! I, myself, traveled 8 hours from Osaka.)
- For those who have to go to the Tokyo VFS/CVAC office, luckily, it is quite accessible, close to the Hamamatsucho Station on the Yamanote Line. There’s also a bus from Narita Airport that drops you off at Ginza and from there you can take the train to Hamamatsucho Station.
- The office itself is at the 4th floor of “Sanki” Building. The building is south west of Tokyo Tower.
- Without having to visit the office, they offer efficient correspondence services as they do for their TRV, SP, WP clients. I got my passport back intact and with my TRV within 2 weeks of submitting it through them.
