Hi,

I am a medical doctor currently doing post graduation in Pakistan (done 2 n half n left with 1 n half yr--internal medicine). Did my graduation in 2005. Wanted to know...

1) Wat r prospects for immigration to Canada for Doctors

2) Can i practice medicine/do job as doctor there after clearing the relative licensing exam?

3) if yes then where can i get details about the exam procedure?

I've heard that the licensing exams are hard and that it's also hard to get in and that it's also very costly. I would have thought Canada needed doctors, after all they are on the most wanted list and there are a lot of people in Canada who don't have a GP and waiting lists for specialists can be a mile long, however, there was somebody on this forum who said he immigrated to Canada, did his licensing and yet after that, he could still not get a job.

You can start at http://www.cicic.ca/684/Physicians.canada?prof=3112 to get some information about the licensing.

Thanks for the info, but y is it that despite requiring more doctors especially family physicians, there is so less chance for foreign medical graduates to work as doctors there? :(

I do not know. I heard this from one member on this forum. Try to contact the colleges of physicians and ask them what they think. The link I gave you should give you their links as well.
