Info. about issuance of visa

This is about my grandmother's family case. Her medical was done in December 2011 and her online application status shows that Canadian visa office in New Delhi India has received her medical results. Now it has been five months she still didn't receive visa. Visa office has not asked for any kind of document related to her case. It means her case is clear and straightforward. Still no visa is issued. Can anyone tell nowadays how long this process takes.Is there something wrong with the case that she didn't get visa so far? Can we contact visa office or anywhere for any info? My grandmother is very old and lives alone. If anyone can provide any valuable information we will be highly thankful.

send an email to the visa office and ask: why you don't have any news since 5 months? will you contact me soon? will the application will be in process soon? If you don't send any email or contact the visa office for a long time, they can think than you're not really serious about your application.

Can anyone tell why it is taking so much time these days to get visa after medical in family case? My grandparents sent their medical to new Delhi visa office in January 2012 still after 6 months no visa is issued. Anyone facing same time length? Please share.
