Indian PCC

I am in US and processing application at ND. Can I get it from DM/Collector's office in India or do I have to get it from Indian Consulate only. Please help

Indian consulate in US is one option. If you are visiting India, I would advice you to get it from the Regional Passport office from where you got your passport. It is just a matter of one day and 300 rupees. You dont have to submit your passport and wait for 30 to 45 days as you have to do at US.

U cannot get PCC from Passport Office without submitting Original Passport because passport office put PCC stamp in ur Passport and also give u two copies of Original PCC. We recently got PCC through Regional Passport Office Jalandhar, Punjab. They took the Original Passport and got some forms signed. Thanks

Will Canadian Embassy accept PCC issued by DM or SP, even though I am living outside India? Please advice.

hi to all
i have some more info as i also went to police station and they said they have a different unit working on PCC as i am from punjab i went to SSP he said give me photo copie of ur passport and they will sign it and will give us back with saying verification done and then we will sent that photo copy and affidevit (original) which we got from police station ..and will sent that along with our 2nd file we no need to go to passport office we can get it in 2 days from police station . passport officer gives us passport clearence certificate which takes 15 days but police clearence certificate we can get in 2 days

sk.aggarwal, my experience with PCC was different that mohit. i got it from the regional passport office and as i said it is just 1 day. i submitted my original passport, miscellaneous services form and Rs 300/- in the morning and collected the PCC (2 copies) in the evening and also they had stamped the same in my passport. from what i inquired, in chennai, if i want to get it through police, i need to submit a request to the SP office and it would take time for them to give the PCC as they will do the verification once again by visiting my house. So the passport office option as easier for me.
