Hello everyone! I have just received a PhD offer in Quebec, and I have a few questions if any knowledgeable person can spare a few minutes.

  • I have seen in here that some people got their study permits refused, I wasn't concerned at all before coming in here, (I am north African, with a master's degree in engineering from a top 14 school in the world, and I with C2 scores at the TEF (9 for the IELTS if that matters?)), 23, about to graduate, no gaps in education.
  • The plan is to get a CAQ , and then a study permit, my PhD offer extends for a year and a half, meaning I can either start in 2021 or the summer of 2022, any idea of timelines? Is it too late to get the CAQ for september ?
  • As someone who was willing to do the Express Entry, before receiving this offer, can I still get the PR while studying and move to another province when I finish my degree, how would that affect my study permit and my status in quebec, ( it’s important for insurance +tuition), I have enough points to get in. Or is there a different stream if I want to settle in later.
  • Can I work while doing my PhD, part time at least, as an engineer ?
Thank you for your time !

CAQ times are long apparently, you should've applied in advance for this year. For your 2nd point, yes you can apply for EE while you are studying. Yes you can work part time, max 20 hrs per week off campus or more than 20 on campus.
