i was taking welfare while i was outside canada>>> my social worker continued to send me cheques even after submitting a letter that i am leaving the country. i wanna apply for my husband now how will that affect my application.

What was the date on you last welfare cheque? (Issued by Canada, I'm assuming.) Yes it will have an effect, if recent enough, you won't be eligible to sponsor.

my wedding was in dec 2011 and last chequ i received was march 2012. and i left the country dec 2011 for my wedding>>

Ok, so the CIC web-site says:

You may not be eligible to be a sponsor if you:

•failed to provide financial support you agreed to when you signed a sponsorship agreement to sponsor another relative in the past
•defaulted on a court-ordered support order, such as alimony or child support
•receive government financial assistance for reasons other than a disability
. . . etc, etc

Perhaps key emphasis on the word "may", not sure how long this will impact your eligibility. I'll defer to another member with more hands=on experience with that.

As long as when you submit the application you are not on welfare then that's ok. you wont be denied sponsorship for being on welfare prior to submitting your application. Only if you're on welfare when the application was submitted!
