Hi guys,
I have a question. I am moving to Kingston, On to attend school next January and my fiance is coming with me. He has a steady job in Quebec, which obviously he'd have to give up. He should be able to find a job fairly quickly but if not, could that negatively affect things? He does have a decent 'nest egg' that could support us in the interim. I am worried that they won't let him sponsor me. I was filing as soon as possible after our wedding so he should have a job by then but I am worried, as is he when we discussed this this morning. Any advice?

Don't worry! spousal sponsorship doesn't have an "income threshold", so there is no minimum amount that you need to get etc.
What is important is to show CIC that your partner has a plan to support you and himself. So if he has savings, and good skills which makes it easy to find a job, then it would be fine. He needs to explain his plan - you probably have one that you have both discussed, because he is not allowed to go on welfare, but apart from that, it should be all good. If you will get free housing from family, or low rent etc, then include that as well - just show CIC that you have organised yourself for the up-coming period, and he should be approved.
My partner was approved even if he was a full time student, and only worked 5 months in 3 years ( summer months).
Good luck,
Sweden

Cool beans. That's what I thought but I always like to get expert opinions ( I feel you guys are ;D ;) ) We do have a plan. We both are on Jobbank and my school has an internship and job placement so I should have a job right off.
