I'm a 'lonely Canadian' preparing to sponsor a 'other relative'. He has a spouse and 2 kids. I'm wondering if it would be any faster/better to sponsor just him first and not include kids and spouse right now? Or it doesn't matter and I should sponsor them all together?

I don't believe it makes any difference as all would have to get cleared medically/criminality etc. If any are inadmissible, they all would be.

I admit I don't know about the financial requirements - but I assume you'd have to meet those on the basis of whole family anyway, logically they're going to assume the others will come in due course (as is the assumption for the medical/criminality aspects).

If you meet the financial requirements on basis of all, then certainly no difference, sponsor them all together.

So even if the spouse and kids are not included they will still have to go through medical and background check?

No issue financially as I meet the requirements for all.

They would have to be included as non-accompanying, and yes, go through all checks.

But if you meet the financial requirements to sponsor all, there is no advantage to separating the apps.

As far as I'm aware - don't claim to be an expert. Would hope others would correct if I'm mistaken. So start preparing, ti's not a quick process.

Also you said if one person fails medical, they would all be inadmissible. Is that correct? That's kinda strange though.

It depends what the medical issue is, but I believe that the 'undue burden on healthcare' (i.e. $$$$) criteria is applied to this type of application.

I understand the undue burden, but lets say one person fails medical and we are OK to exclude that person, then why would the remainings be inadmissible? That's what is strange.

You cannot exclude a dependent just because he/she failed the medical.
All memebers of the family have to pass medical and background, police check for them to be sponsored to become PRs.
