Hello members of this community, the experience here has helped me many times in past and I have come here for one more advise.

Issue : Currently battling outstanding assault charges which are in Ontario court of Justice

1 Question : My PR card will expire soon, if I apply for PR renewal will the outstanding charges block my renewal? I have lived here for more than 10 years now.

2 Question : I am also eligible for citizenship and can apply for it too , will it be deined when the case is not resolved yet?

I asked few immigration lawyers but no one was clear. Please advise

Not sure how much weight the `opinions' of members here will matter to you, since you've already asked a few immigration lawyers, but...here goes.

1. As mentioned in your other thread, a `charge' will not impact your PR card renewal, but may slow down the process. If you are convicted, it will likely lead to your PR status being revoked.

2. ?

2. citizenship application will be put on hold until your case is resolved. Your lawyer should be aware that the outcome of your case will have significant impact on your ability to get citizenship in Canada and even remain in Canada.
