and what should i put as my occupation? I hope to be working soon but right now i'm not.
Put your usual occupation, and say you are currently unemployed. If you were working as a teacher, and looking for teaching jobs, put 'teacher'. If you've had a series of unrelated jobs, maybe just put 'unemployed' the last job you had, or the job you are looking for right now.

Thank you everyone for your help. 1 form down and lots more to go :o I'll be back soon i'm sure with more questions.

There is no income requirement BUT.If you dont have a job then you dont have one so you put unemployed. But it does not look good not having a job as you are financially responsible for them for the next three years and if your unemployed how can you prove you can do this? But then again put out some resumes copy them to show you are looking and hope to have one soon. That might help.....

dont worry, you are unemployed so that is what you put, there are no guarantees that someone that is employed the day they send their application off will be employed the following day let alone within the three years that they are responsible for the applicant, being unemployed wont be held against you, the concern is that you cannot be collecting social assistance, receiving EI is fine.

if someone has for example previously been on social assistance, has gotten off and is unemployed that may raise an eyebrow, but if you were previously working, are unemployed and looking then you wont have a problem, at least not because you're unemployed

Well I was on Social Assistance for a short period of time about 3 years ago,I then started working for 2 years and quit my job because of intolerable work condtions. I'm just hoping it won't jeopardize anything fir us.
