I've noticed that nearly all applicants from October 2015 onward were able to get "in process" + "we have started working" on ECAS for the PR section only 1-2 weeks after the file transfer. From what I've been told, this means that a visa officer is actively working on your file. If you look at the previous spreadsheets, you'll see that it usually takes several months after the file transfer to get to this stage. So why are October 2015+ applicants getting this sooner regardless of which VO their file is at?

I'm not saying this is a bad thing, I'm just curious as to what this means.

I am also curious about this thing, but i wish this is a good sign that our files will be processed fast. hope so.. :)

My understand is it switches to In Process means it's at the VO, but not actively being worked on. When the line 'starting processing on..' appears, thats when an officer is actually working on it.

i know, and nearly all of the apps i've been looking at in the spreadsheets have that line. that's what confuses me.

How the various lines on ECAS should be interpreted changed midway through 2015, there is a huge thread on here explaining it.

you're referring to this thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/old-in-process-vs-new-in-process-on-ecas-explained-t363793.0.html

i've read it several times and the thread says that if the PR section shows "in process" with "we have started working on PA's application", there's a reduced chance of having an interview. however i know a november 2015 applicant who got both these statuses and was still invited for an interview about 30 days later. it just doesn't make sense.

i'll take my question to that thread, as OP might be able to explain this better.

From what I've been seeing on here, it looks like in process used to mean that they were actively working on your file. But partway through 2015 things seem to have switched and now in process is basically like an AOR2 from the VO. Even if it says 'started processing on ...', that date is usually only a short time after the file was transferred and it only really shows that the file has been received at the VO. For example, our application was transferred to the VO on April 28, 2015 and sometime in the summer of 2015 our ecas updated to in process and stated they began processing our application on April 30, 2015. We ordered our notes and it looks like they had briefly glanced at our application in July, and then it wasn't touched again until about a week and a half ago when we finally got our PPR. So in our case at least (and basically everyone else on the Kingston VO thread), in process doesn't really mean much anymore unfortunately.

I don't think that information in the 1st page is any longer applicable, if you dig deeper into that thread, I am not sure which page, Eagle said under the new process eligibility and background check will be happening concurrently not one after another. So even though with 3 lines are present doesn't mean the PA had passed eligibility.
