Hello,

Hope you are all well. I am applying for a spousal sponsorship - in Canada Class.

On the checklist it says i need to submit "an original option C print out and computer print out of income slips"

The "computer printout of income slips" is that referring to a copy of my T4? or do I need to obtain this printout from the CRA?

Thanks.

T4 would do just fine. For spousal sponsorship, you exempt from the LICO (low-income-cut-off). You just need to show that you can support your spouse.

CIC prefers the option c printout that you need to request from CRA. You will usually recieve within 10 business days. The option C printout clearly shows that you are not in receipt of social assistance/welfare and that is what they are checking for.

So don't you have to submit your paystubs for the past year?
Not if you can get an Option C.
Just call them and request it - it's free. 1-800-959-8281. You will need to verify your identity, usually with questions about your last tax year's amounts so have that info handy. Opening hours are 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (local time) weekdays, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays

Thanks! You're very helpful. I got Option C for the year of 2011 already. Is that enough or should I fill my application until I get Option C for 2012?

Depends on how much you have left to do.. I applied late April last year and with an old Option C. I tried to supply my employment records but I'm self employed. Somehow my sponsorship approval took 4.5 months. Get it if you can, but don't wait too long for it either. Maybe try and file your taxes now.
