Hi there,

First post, and here's hoping it comes off alright. My wife is in Canada on a 2 year working holiday visa (from Australia) it is set to expire on the 25th of April. On the 24th of March she applied to change her status from worker to visitor.

It's been 23 days and we haven't heard anything back from CIC. The application portal says they are working on applications from March 28th with an estimated 4 day processing time.

My concern is that if we don't hear back from CIC before the 25th of April, that my wife will be considered unlawful as she is still in Canada. I suppose my question is: If we don't hear back before the expiry of her current visa, will she a) become unlawful b) deported or c) Neither. She applied for change of status, so does that let her remain in Canada until a decision is made on her change of status application?

Thanks for the time and help, everyone.

This. No need to worry until you get a decision even if it's past processing time or original stay's valid date.
