In any given new year, when does the CIC usually update the forms?

Hi everyone...

I'm a Canadian citizen, in the process of sponsoring my Indonesian wife, outland through Singapore.

We're almost done preparing the (gigantic) application, but we're still waiting for some documents....for example, we still have to get some documents translated by a sworn translator, and get some documents legalised. But so far it's my wife's police clearance that's been taking so long to process.

We're hoping to have the application shipped to CPC-Mississauga by the end of 2012. The thing is, if we ship it in early January 2013, we're worried that the sponsor and sponsored person forms (I'm referring to the ones here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp ) will already be updated (by the CIC) to the 2013 version. If that's the case, then all of our hard work in completing the 2012 forms will be wasted.....(because once the 2013 forms are released, then the 2012 forms will be obsolete right?)

So, just wondering when the CIC usually updates the form? Is it always on January 1st of every given year? Or...?

I don't think it's annual.

They changed the forms at the beginning of this year - maybe the end of January? They gave people a grace period in which they were still accepting the old forms. I think they accepted the old forms until the end of February.

Recently, I believe they may have changed the forms again due to the change to conditional permanent residence in October.

Maybe someone else remembers the dates better.

My general impression is that they change the forms whenever regulations change or when they see something they think they can improve.

This year, they have changed about 3-4 times. You would be better off if you checked them a few days before you ship them to make sure they aren't changed.
