Implied Status???

Hi all,

Work permit is expiring soon. We've applied for a visitor visa a month ago for roughly 6 month extension.

We have submitted all required docs (online application), but have not heard back yet. Wondering if we can stay past the work permit expiry?

Does Implied Status still apply in this case? Work permit expiring but applying for a visitor TRV (not extending the work permit)

Yes - you have implied status and can remain in Canada until a decision in your application is made.

You will of course have to stop working as soon as your work permit expires. However you can remain as a visitor while you wait to hear back.
