So I got my visitor extension about a year ago from CIC and they received my application the beginning of this year. My extended status is up at the end of this month. I just want to confirm for my own peace of mind that I don't have to re-extend it and that I am on implied status since I am applying inland and that is also a condition of applying inland. :P

Also when I try to log in to see any updates on my application status ..I can't log in? I tried my name, my hubbys name, my UCI, my receipt #....is this because they just haven't gotten to it yet?

Thanks everyone!!! 8)

did you send in an open work permit with your inland application? i don't *think* applying inland gives you implied status. i believe it's the owp permit that is submitted along with the application that gives someone implied status.

Newly landed member rhcohen2014 is correct; it is the inclusion of an OWP (or a Study Permit) that is submitted at the same time as an Inland application that gives the person implied status. An Inland application alone does NOT.

You cannot send an OWP now and must wait until you have AIP to do so.

You might want to consider extending your visitor status ASAP. While it is true that you do not need status to have applied with an Inland application, you do need status to guarantee that you will not be removed from Canada.

Hello,

I am currently on a visitor visa in Canada and living with my husband who is a Canadian Citizen. We are applying for my Inland Application (My husband is sponsoring me). My visitor visa is expiring by the end of next month.

Now, we are very confused, should I apply for the extension of my visit visa or should I send my OWP along with my inland application. Please kindly guide me.

Send in the OWP application same time with the inland PR application so that you can benefit the "implied status" when your visitor visa run out. Remember CiC must receive both your inland application and OWP application same time before your current visitor visa expires.

An OWP does not require an approval (like a visitor extension), so for that reason alone...I suggest the OWP. This will also allow you to work (if you desire to do so) as soon as as your husband is approved as your sponsor (known as AIP). Currently, AIP is ~ 13 months away, based on the current processing times.

Thank you so much for your replies!! I am glad to find this forum.

Does both of the applications go in the same envelope? Or should i be sending them seperatealy but at the same time. Another issue is i m unable to open the form IMM 5710. :(

You send it in the same package with the PR papers.
