Hello all,

I'm a bit concerned about my situation. I filed for PR in may and received my AOR already almost a month ago.
My work experience in Canada was: 10 months as an administrative assistant (with my PGWP) and 3 months as an interpreter (with implied status as I applied for a new wp before my PGWP expired).
When I was working as an interpreter had to quit in the last month and came back to my country as my mom's health was getting worse and worse. In fact, she had a surgery due to an emergency. So, my question is this: Is it ok if I sent an explanatory letter stating my reasons why I had to leave Canada during that period of implied status? I was waiting for the wp to come but I couldn't wait it too long. And I really want this work experience to count towards the required 12 months.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I'm not entirely sure why you think you need to explain your departure. Leaving during implied status only means you lose it going forward (not retroactively).

Did you ever get your new work permit, or is it still pending, or...?

Thank you jes_ON for being always that nice. I read in another thread (don't remember where) that if you leave Canada when you are under implied status that experience won't count and it will be lost. And I really need those 3 months of experience. That's why I was thinking in sending a letter explaning the reasons I had to leave Canada.

I got my new work permit already. The company where I was working at sent it to me just few days after I left.

that's good, it "strengthens" the proof you have of implied status. I don't think you need to worry about that. Incidentally, do you have plans to return to that employer?

Well... right now I do. They know I'm still interested in working with them. I have a close 2-year work permit from that company (till Jan 2015). But once I get the PR I'll be living in AB.
