Implied status: On TRV almost 6 months, but can't leave coz passport with VO now

I'm hoping somebody could answer my questions. I tried searching the forums, but I can't seem to find the answers.

I applied outland (my wife is my sponsor) but I came to Canada (on multiple entry TRV) to wait out my application processing. The last time I entered Canada was December 2012, so I am supposed to leave in June 2013 (6 months). But my passport is with the visa office in Manila because I already received the PPR.

My questions:
1. If my passport doesn't come back soon (June 2013), will I be considered as on "implied status"?
2. If I am not on implied status, what do I need to do? Do I apply for an extension of my stay? If yes, how do I do this without my passport?

Apply for ext as when you do ONLINE, you just need to upload copies of it ( which I hope you do ) - and till that ext arrives, you are implied status

Did the same for my folks recently

There is a small/rare possibility that they request passport, in that case you will need to tell them its with Manila and waiting for it

Thanks, user828! I will apply for extension today. I have a scanned copy of my passport's first page, but not the page stamped by the Canadian immigration agent when I entered the country. I'll just explain in a letter and attach a copy of the PPR email that I received from CIC-Manila.
