Hi all,

I was charged with a DUI in India in March of 2018. My BAC level was 0.07% or 70mg/100ml of blood. The permissible limit in India is 0.03% or 30mg/100ml of blood. No FIR was filed by the traffic police, I was given a slip to attend traffic court a few days later.

The court directed me to pay a fine of INR 2000 (CAD 35) and suspended my DL for 6 months. I paid the fine on the same day I attended traffic court.

I am set to start my post-graduate program in Toronto this September. I only recently found out about the whole inadmissibility issue surrounding DUIs while preparing for my visa application.

What are my chances of TRV/eTA and study permit approval?

Thank you!

You should be fine since your BAC was under 0.08%. But since your license was suspected, you may want to get a consult with a Canadian immigration lawyer.

You would only qualify for an eTA if you have a U.S. green card.

Does the DUI reflect on your Police clearance certificate ?
