immigration with dependent applicant with criminal record

Could anybody Please let me know what happens if

the dependent of the primary applicant has a minor criminal record. Does it effect the primary applicant too? Please help......

Yes it can if the criminal record is not disclosed in the background declaration form. Also if the record is less than five years there might be need to apply for rehabilitation.
