Hello everyone

This is Ankita, am a Physiotherapist working in India.
My husband wants to migrate to canada. But I am concerned as I have a 2 and a half year old son..
Being a physio i know i can have a very bright carrer there.. my husband will also settle in a while there.
But will a small child will be able to accommodate to such sudden change in his life.. Will this decision be better for his life.. will he be able to accommodate with people speaking different language... is it worth for him to move to another country for our better future..

feeling very confused for him

Kindly share your experiences
Thanks in advance..

A 2 and half year old should have no problems with picking up language and in fact will likely adjust as all kids do far easier than any adult. Adults have all the issues to deal with such as housing, employment , health etc... Often , mostly , it will be the adults who have difficulty adjusting not the children.

As a physio as sure you know it is a licensed profession in Canada so that would be your first challenge to become licensed.

Whether life is better in Canada or not you will find many debates on here with varied opinions but ultimately a family has to approach immigration as a whole unit else will not succeed

Yeah! You are worrying things that's the least of concern. Most young kids will adjust really quick to the move. They will learn the language quickly (and be prepared to spend more effort to keep them speaking their mother tongue)

You need to do some research on continuing your career because Physio Theorist is a regulated profession.

Here is a link I found on google for practicing in Ontario. (each province have different licensing body)

Good luck.

Children especially that young have zero problems. Your child adapting is nothing to worry about you and your husband are the people you need to worry about. Would agree that you should really investigate how difficult, expensive and timely it will be to get licensed as a physiotherapist. Is there an area in Canada where your skills will most be in demand. A large number of physiotherapist are small business owners so those jobs don’t come with extended benefits. This also becomes an issue when it comes to maternity leave plus other forms of EI. The cost of childcare in Canada is extremely high so can I afford childcare especially when I am initially starting in off in Canada and haven’t been licensed. Cost of childcare would also factor in if you are working full-time because you often need to pay for care before and after school and during holidays especially the summer. What average salary can I expect. What is the cost of living in barious areas in Canada. How hard will it be to afford a home if home ownership is a goal. Will I be able to afford to have another child if I want one and when. Is my husband’s skills/education in demand and where would he be able to get a job. Will I be happy if I can never sponsor my parents or in-laws to Canada.

Lots of questions for you to think about. Sorry didn’t include the “?”
