Hello,

An applicant has completed the immigration process and obtained the permanent residency a year ago. The applicant just received an email from Immigration Canada asking for an updated contact address for the return of original documents pertaining to the application, although no request has been made from the applicant's side. Is this a regular process?
If yes, can the documents be mailed to an an address outside of Canada?
Finally, what if the applicant doesn't require those original documents any more?

Thanks

Make sure it's not a phishing email first. If it's real, is this applicant doing anything they shouldn't be as a PR of Canada (like living away from spouse with condition 51, not settling in Canada etc.) ?

I personally haven't heard of such a thing, but who knows, maybe they just found the documents in their dusty archives so that's why the request is so late. I don't see any reason they can't just email back stating they don't need the documents returned, please shred them.
