For starters, it should be a counterfoil sticker with a glossy holographic laminate and not an ink stamp. You can Google what it would approximately look like. If it looks like an inkjet printer printout, that shouldn’t be the case.
If they applied online directly through MyCIC, it should be valid. If they applied through an agent, then anything goes.
